Consumer product manufacturer Johnson & Johnson says that its line of baby products will soon be cleansed of certain chemicals that critics say could be hazardous to health, with a similar purge of adult products to follow, the Associated Press reported Aug. 15.

Products like the iconic No More Tears Baby Shampoo as Desitin diaper-rash cream will be reformulated to remove or reduce potentially cancer-causing chemicals by 2013, while the chemicals will be removed or reduced from adult brands like Aveeno and Neutrogena by 2015, according to the company.

Consumer health groups have been calling on manufacturers to rid products of chemicals like 1,4 dioxane, the preservative formaldehydetriclosan, phthalates, and parabens.
